Vodacom vs MTN - fastest network for smartphones

Did the recent MyBB article on LTE not show that Telkom Mobile had the best download rate and Vodacom the best upload rate?

And I agree with MTN (as per Dolby's post).

ASA messed up here.

The claim was for Smartphones. How many LTE smartphones on the TM network? ;)

I am shocked the ASA agrees that Vodacom has the best network. I don't think any mobile operator can make such a claim.

By definition; if you have a number of contenders, one must be the best according to the metric you use to measure.

I don't know....but I do know for a fact that Telkom Mobile has the fastest network in my suburb....BY FAR - I have tested them all.

Using a LTE modem, if it's not the fastest, something's wrong. They've got 60MHz for LTE while VC and MTN use between 5 and 10.

But that was not what this case was about. Read it again, maybe.

Mine. And it rocks!!!

And there are certain zones where it kicks VC into touch... and this is where your claim falls flat. It is not ALWAYS the best ALL the time.

IT WAS NEVER THE CLAIM....dammit! :)

Unless you saw an ad I did not??

If I put 2 iphone 5's next to each other.

One with a Vodacom simcard and one with a MTN simcard.

The iphone 5 with the Vodacom simcard in, is on EDGE and the iphone with the MTN simcard in is on LTE 2 bars.

When I see you ad on the TV that Vodacom is the best network for smartphones then surely that claim is false? That would make me think that having a Vodacom simcard in my smartphone is the best option because you claim it but its not because I only get EDGE coverage so its not the best network for smart phones in this area.

I don't understand how Vodacom can make such a claim. I just don't and what shocks me even more is that the ASA accepts third party and evidence from Vodacom themselves to dismiss anyone disputing that claim.....

Your claim is that Vodacom is the best network for smartphones.

I say it is not always the best network for smartphones.

I agree.

But you also said the claim was that it's ALWAYS the best network at ALL times. In that you're wrong.

But I think we cleared that up? :)

Totally agree.... How the hell does the ASA conclude that they are the best network when relying on 3rd party test results?

I think both MTN and Vodacom has good networks and thus both can claim "One of the best networks for smartphones"
The ASA ask advice from some school kids.

You needed to do a test for that? :D

Lol yeah if only I could. I get tears of joy when my whatsapp message actually goes through....

If for any reason my home adsl is down then data wise I am totally screwed with Vodacom. I have to use MTN LTE or Telkom Mobile LTE because living on the EDGE with Vodacom is super frustrating. When I reported that I had no 3G coverage at all the guy laughed and politely said this is only for reporting no or poor coverage for 2G. 3G will be upgraded and deployed by their planning teams and they have no say....... :wtf:
