Vodacom - why have online chat if its never available?

Why does Vodacom bother with an online chat facility if its never available. Been trying for over a month - and really don't feel like calling in and sit waiting for a simple query.

+1 I use a number of chat support services, and it's really annoying that Vodacom only has chat for their sales dept., I read somewhere that they are busy upgrading the chat support, who knows if it's true...

I've seen the message previously, best is to do it early in the morning when they're not so busy.

Time of day makes no difference. Only available from 8am.

Seriously tempted to port to another network - tired of trying to get service from them, even emailing them you get a response to call them.

Try get them to call you - if that option is still available. That worked for me a few times.

that would be great, but the whole reason I'm trying to contact them is to upgrade as my cellphone isn't working great (people can seldom hear me).

All I wanted to do was confirm stock - placed the order anyway, and got the following email confirmation:
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935F)
Blue Coral
Out of stock

All the networks are the same. I bet they all have a unified call centre.

Try get them to call you - if that option is still available. That worked for me a few times.
Tried that option on their website a few times last few months, doesn't work. It sends this sms:

There was a problem recording your scheduled callback. Please resubmit your request. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm of the opinion that the entire Vodacom website is experimental. Wait until you try re-register on the current iteration of V4ME or whatever they call it now.
