Vodacom wont allow me to buy once off data bundles

No matter how hard I try Vodacom will not allow me to buy once-off data bundles for either of my 2 contract phones.

They have all sorts of excuses, but no-one can offer me a practical way of buying once-off data bundles.

They claim that the one contract is through Nashua Mobile and as such, I cannot buy data bundles for that SIM.
The other is directly with Vodacom, but is a corporate account and because of that I cannot buy data bundles.

Now, if I wanted to add the cost of a once-off data bundle onto any of these accounts, they may have a valid point, but I am trying to purchase it directly via FNB on-line banking.

I am willing to use any mechanism that practically works.

Any advice?

The info they gave u is accurate. To add a bundle to a nashua line, you have to contact them. We at vodacom sp outlets cant even access those lines. As for the corportate one, i can do ot for my clients, but must be requested in writing. Charging from fnb etc os only for top up and prepaid irc

Ockie,

That it is totally absurd and surely it should not work like that!

What possible logical reason should there be to prevent me from buying data bundles via FNB?

Prepaid and top up works on the prepaid billing engine. Nkrmal lines do not and dont support prepaid airtime or bundles. With normal lines u can add it on either the vodacom portal or in case of corporates, request itvia the corp helpdesk or someone like me.

Apart from the billing system implications Ockie has mentioned there is a simple legal issue at play:
On the Nashua lines Vodacom would be circumventing Nashua if they allowed customers to deal directly with them on this sort of sale and on any corporate account the account holder (whose consent would be required) isn't the end user but the corporate who needs to make the authorization. Imagine how pissed you would be at Vodacom if they allowed somebody who came into possession of you phone to randomly bolt on data bundles etc ...
