On 22/7 I "bought" a once off 250meg data bundle. Did it on My Vodacom page from my laptop. Got confirmation via SMS that it was successfully loaded, so upped my data usage limit by 250meg. Thought it must have run out by now, so went back there to check the balance. No data package on the system but my monthly recurring. Go to Messages on phone and message gone but the one I am now OOB.

HTF does this happen? I am pretty sure I saw the SMS and the transaction was successful??? As I do not possess the message anymore, I have no recourse. I is so sad now. And peed off.

If I can give you any advice it would be to go through their social media team with complaints and queries. We struggled for about three months with vodacom and a double OOB billing issue. Many calls, disrespectful and - as it turns out - clueless/misinformed/untrained call centre staff later we finally got the Twitter guys to resolve it.

So VC hacked your phone and deleted your SMS?

Not saying that, but I am pretty sure I got confirmation of a successful transaction. There is absolutely no trace of this transaction anywhere. It is not on my bill either. Actually I am not sure what I am saying. I would not have upped my data limit if I did not transacted successfully. Maybe I was drunk, but I don't think so.

Might be something to do with Truecaller. Vodacom is listed as SPAM on it.

Nope, please don't. I purchased another 500MB once-off package today and found the confirmation that I did in fact purchase a data bundle back then. Seems Truecaller is the culprit in hiding messages. It was in fact a 500MB one and it was on 18/07. Got the size and date wrong, but now I know I did buy it. Not that drunk. :D

Anyway, in a chat with VC as we speak. Will see if they can find the transaction. I now know I have proof of it.

OK, so how do I escalate this? I have phoned Vodacom 3 times now. They have no record of this purchase, but I have the proof. And I did go into OOB rates because of this. Do we have a Vodacom rep here?

Tried to log a call for you. System keeps giving a error. Will try again later. Did you ask the people you spoke to to log a call for you?

DO NOT USE VODACOM especially for data! School fees, this.

Had a look at my bill. From 22/07 I went into OOB. No indication of the 500MB I purchased on that day. No callback from the apparent call logs.

That in this day and age, we still have to deal in megabytes.

I only use mobile data outside of home/work. Rest on Wifi, so 500mb is more than enough.

Anyway, 34 minutes on the line with Vodacom and they terminate the call whilst I am holding. Have no idea how to resolve this, apart from taking time off work and driving to Vodacom. Being hourly paid, this will make this Vodacom fup more costly.
