Vodacoms Birthday is turning into quite an event. Getting the pleasantries out the way first one has to acknowledge and say "Thank You" ! The 1 gig gift was welcome & noble gesture.

However.....
The 24 hours of that 1 gig turned into quite a fraught experience which seemed to leave a bitter aftertaste. I only managed to get about 500 mb of it and all mostly trying to catch up on much over due updates for my desktop Pc. Worse still the conspiracy theorist in me did flick flacks when at 00:15 on the 12th of May my Vodacom Data connection went from pretty much totally useless dial-up speed to miraculously restored world class 3g. Got worse later when first news snippet of the day was about how the 1 gig gift practically knocked down Vodacom's entire network due to the unexpected additional load and for most part of today my work colleagues and I have been unable to make voice calls on our cell phones. All this excitement brought up an interesting theory during the daily lunch time debate. Did Vodacom use the 1 gig gift as a massive stress test experiment on there network while gaining maximum PR value for their magnanimous generosity on the occasion of the company's 20th Birthday? Admittedly , the theory is definitely a bit " out there".Clearly the party got way out of hand of there at Vodacom. Either way thanks Vodacom. Sorry to hear about your massive hangover.
