P990i in portugal...

Hi all you guys

I´m from portugal and also got a highly-branded P990i, just vodafone won't flash it with the original software, they say that the only way to do so is by unlocking the phone (and I don't want to pay for it, of course)... So I'd like to know if all you that already got rid of the branding had to pay anything to unlock the phone or if the phone was already unlocked before...

Thanks

I used DaVinci to rebrand mine and paid the euro fees. They can also unlock certain phones to my knowledge. Have a look.

Thanks for the help, Diago, but I had already searched DaVinci and found nothing about P990. Went there once again and once again I saw that P990 is not even mentioned. Did you debrand your p990 with DaVinci? I really can´t find anything for p990 there... Besides, I wouldn't like to loose my warranty. That's why I'd prefer to do the thing in vodafone. As many others say they did it in vodafone without loosing their warranty, I thought I could too... I'm not even interested in unlocking it, but I'd like to know if I'm in the same conditions as those who debranded their phones in vodafone.

P990 without branding but with vodafone links

I got my p990i last night after lusting after it for 2yrs. I was pleasantly surprised to find no vodafone live themes. The only sign of the vodafone live is the homepage in the web browser. Looks like vodacom are now releasing their phones without the vodafone live software, must be the complaints and returns for flashing.

BTW: Anyone know how to view the free movie trailers from vodafone live, I think my p990 doesn't recognise the .dd files?

Trix, where are you from? I'd really like to know that, cause I'd like to proove myself that here in Portugal Vodafone is even worst...
Anyway, if you got your phone like that it means anyone who has a vodafone branded one as the right to have it flashed, right?
If there was anyone portuguese with his P990 debranded here, it would be great...

Mine has been de-branded to generic SE P990
Was promissed by Vodacom that I would be able to use live TV

I can access VLive home page but as soon as I click on TV it tells me the link is broken

Have a feeling it is the VLive apn
Anyone have the full correct settings vor vlive apn or any ideas how i get onto TV

Many thanks

P990 VLive

When having your SE P990 re branded please ensure they do it with the following:

The P990 script that you need to ask for is MR1_VCOM_ZA_CCTR1A21_CDA162008/62_R4A01

My current version is CDA 162007/2 R3B01 and will not let you get onto VLive mobile TV
Going to have it done tomorrow, will give feedback after

What a mission it has been with what should be a fantastic phone

P990 Debranding

Anyone out there successfully debranded their P990i themselves? I have a P990i
which keeps restarting unless it's connected to the data cable. The Vodashop said it was damaged by water?!?!? When it's never been near the stuff. Sony Ericsson said take it to their customer care centre as the problem is that it is branded with vodafone and needs generic branding. Customer care couldn't debrand battled for hours and told me that I should put a claim through my insurance and simply state water damage?!
Going through various forums worldwide I realise that the branding is the problem but can't seem to fin anyone who hs succesfully debranded and can explain how this was done.

Thanks

Hey Breeze2000, wherabouts are you located? If you're in Gauteng go to a vodacare centre and insist on speaking to a senior technician. Especially at Vodaworld they should know by now.

Otherwise call vodacare and ask to speak to a senior technician about debranding a P990i. They DO do it, it's just a question of getting past the stupid first level of people who are either too dumb to do their job, or too lazy and simply insist it's not possible.
