I was told there are over 500 000 songs available, but must say, have not tried to count them.

It's not such a bad question:

1) Do you use Vlive?
2) Have you bought anything on Vlive?
3) Do you watch live TV?
4) How do you find the experience? (We know of Geriatrix's experience!)
5) General comments?

Maybe the Intrepid Commander of the forum (ic), can put a poll up?

my experience on Vlive is rather limited. at first i went there to watch the free preview channel to show off to my mates. then they started charging for it. so didnt go there again. now i only use Vlive to download the free Movie Trailers. i refuse to pay for stuff on Vlive that i can get free on other sites. i really dont know how much money Vodacom ismaking out of Vlive, but i suspect its not much. South African teenagers are cheapskates. why pay something like R5 for a ringtone when you can get your class geek to download it for free? Vodacom should rather offer the content on Vlive for free and put adverts from companies all over the place to pay for it. if it is free people will flock to vlive portal, which will justify charging advertisers. as for the mobile tv thing...make that free to and you might actually get people to use it. charge companies adverts just like the SABC does on normal tv. create your own tv station if you have to. the only way anything will take off among the youth of south africa is if it is free. well that is my opinion.have a competition where teens can submit there own funny 3gp videos so that other teens can download them and vote. have prizes and stuff. create a hype. make people go there and dont charge for everything.

Does that mean my opinion is not wanted here? ;)

But really, regarding Vodafone Live itself, I won't use it again.
Not because of what is available for download of how easy it is to use or because of the price of content, but because of the lack of interest from Vodacom when there was a problem.(Still waiting, by the way :) )

There are better options out there for cheaper with better customer service.

Well, I don't use Vlive (my phone is crap) but my SO does and has this to say:

SO said:
1) Do you use Vlive? Yes
2) Have you bought anything on Vlive? I tried but didn't come through. (charged but no delivery)
3) Do you watch live TV? No.
4) How do you find the experience? Not good so far.
5) General comments? Disappointing. All products are too expensive.

sorry for the late reply....

Personally I think news and weather at least need to be free.
I downloaded opera mini 2.0 and browse iol.co.za (or any website) which alone is far Superior to anything VLive! can offer.

I thing that VLive! needs to rethink their strategy. Provide a free service with a few paid for cherries.

currently its a free catalog. nothing more.

The Vodafone Live concept is brilliant , where it fails is in charges , make accessability available to the masses, not only will Vodacom sales in Vodafone Live phones rocket , they (Vodacom) can show positive returns much sooner , especially with the giant strides in technology , the sooner one makes a profit the sooner you can invest in new technologies .

he means that if VLive downloads/products were affordable, it would be accessible to all and when the masses use it it would translate into profits for Vodacom and profits can be used to further upgrade infrastructure....thats how i translate 3Gee's post

These options confuse me a bit:
"I have used VLive, and it has worked for me on my 3G cellphone"
"I would like to try VLive, but I do not have a 3G cellphone"
As it is I do not have a 3G cellphone and yet I have used vlive (mostly for checking cinema schedules)...

Anyway I put my vote on the "I have used VLive, and it has worked for me on my 3G cellphone" ... I figure the more important thing is whether it worked or not ;)

I'm too scared to use it!

There seems to be this forest of pay if you accidently click wrong type of traps.

The faster I can get from the Vodafone spider waiting to catch the unwary prey, the better.

Is there a way to switch the Vodafone trap off completely (SE K750i) without killing email and other web access via Mini Opera?

Hi I was wandering if some here could assist.
I have a Nokia N70 3G Vodaphone but when I access the Vlive site and attempt to view the video streaming channels, Real player says cannot connect even though I have set the default access point as VLive.

The 3G reception does shows 5 bars.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I assume you're in 3G coverage?

You need to set the access point in Real Player itself to vlive as well. It does not seem to pick up the phone's default settings.

Is this phone a out-of-the-box VLive handset? If so, I'm concerned that the phone is not pre-configured correctly.

Yes I believe so as I bought the phone from Dions about three weeks ago and it does have a red Vlive! link on the screen.
I saw them break the seals on the box since they needed to set the Sim card prepaid access.

I have previously set the default access point to Vlive! in real player, as I saw to do that on this website.

My location is Hatfield Pretoria which is a 3G area as far as I know and the phone itself displays 3G on the screen with full signal strength of five bars.
When accessing the Vlive site, after doing a purchase to view a TV channel and Realplayer just cannot connect.
Possibly the real player requires some other settings as well such as proxy or bandwidth settings?
