Hi Guys
I have just bought a Nokia N80 and it is not Vodafone branded. I asked Vodacom if I could access vodafone live settings on this phone and they said never... Anyway, being computer literate I got the normal OTA's from them, and changed the homepage to http://live.vodaphone.com and I'm in. One problem though... I need the streaming settings for Realplayer to watch TV.(i.e Proxy settings port, etc.) This is possible as other people have done it in other countries and it should be simmilar to the N70's settings which is a branded phone here.

Can anybody please help me with these settings? Vodacom in this country thinks we are all really dumb, and does not want to assist!By the way, it is the worst help line I have come accross!

Thank you
Mike

Once you get the settings, you're still not assured that the content will be rendered correctly, as the network will be looking for the ID of the VLive branded N80.

I'd suggest you take the phone in and get them to upgrade it to the VLive version of the firmware.

Hi

Thae phone cannot be downgraded firmware wise, so doing a vodafone firmware upgrade is not possible. The does however display all info correctly, and I even purchased my TV time over the network. Its just the realplayer streaming settings that is not correct. I need to setup the correct caching server, UDP port etc. I have a firend in Ireland that had that did it and all worked well. Our caching server is however not the same as theirs.

Vodafone Live software is not available for the N80 , N90 and N91

Thanks for the settings! Is it possible for you to also give me the Vlive ones? I'm sure I'll be up and running then.
Thanks
Mike

The N90 is a better phone than the N80 as my phone is only 1 week old and the silde is already loose. Even worse... I bought mine outright..My friend has a N90 and he is very happy...

I'm surprised to hear that! I think the N80 is a great phone. I've had my N80 for about three months now, and my slide is still attached despite me throwing it against the wall so hard that the whole front face popped out. I only threw it because the damn thing reset in the middle of yet another SMS, and I had to retype everything. I also threw it the other day because it dialled someone from my pocket AGAIN, despite having activated the keyguard (it turns off too easily, as a small movement on the slide is enough to put it in normal usage mode again). Oh, and I threw it because I'm forever hitting the little diamond-shaped menu key that brings up all sorts of weird crap. And then I threw it because it couldn't pick up a 3G signal in a room where EVERYBODY else had 3G signal and I didn't. And I threw it last night because the flashing blue light scared me and I thought the cops had tracked me down. And then I threw it this morning (twice) because it wouldn't go into PC Suite mode so I could sync my Outlook. But my slide is still strong. Firmly attached and sliding smoothly. Great phone, the N80...

Only when things don't work the way they should. But yes, I do get a touch angry sometimes. And then I throw my phone. BUT the slide is still fine, thanks!

Hi

I entered those Vlive! settings, but it doesn't work. It says packet data connection not available...
Any ideas?

Thanx

Most likley the vodacom network was down yet again, I know they work because they are a direct copy from a 6680 and ive used and reused them on my N90.......
