Volkswagen and Bosch partner to make self-driving software

Volkswagen AG is partnering with Robert Bosch GmbH to develop a common software platform to bring hands-free driving functions to the German carmaker’s entire fleet in a bid to catch up to Tesla Inc.

The platform, announced by VW’s Cariad software unit and Bosch on Tuesday, will serve all Volkswagen Group passenger vehicles before being opened to the wider industry.

Based on my experience of older tech issues that VW have been unable to fix in my vehicle (even when it was under warranty), I shudder to think what will happen with their higher tech vehicles.

So, after VWs previous debacle with Dieselgate in the mid-2010s...




Then their recent horrendous fiasco with the buggy & poorly implemented infotainment system interface of the Golf 8 & the I.D. range of EVs...

we now want to trust them with the development of autonomous driving software....
