Volvo Cars, has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as a 2018 World’s Most Ethical Company.

This is the second consecutive year that Volvo Cars has received this recognition. 135 companies have been listed this year, with Volvo Cars being one of only three in the Automotive category.

'Responsible business'

Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, said: "Responsible business is a fundamental part of Volvo Cars´ culture and way of operating, and something we continuously promote internally as well as with our business partners.

"An ethical approach to business is not only the right thing to do, but also brings financial value and helps attract and retain the best talent. We are proud that we have been recognised as one of the world’s most ethical companies for the second consecutive year."

Volvo Cars has established a Compliance & Ethics programme to support its commitment to responsible business, as well as to prevent and mitigate a wide range of legal and ethical risks.

As part of this programme, the Code of Conduct and the Code of Conduct for Business Partners, both based on international conventions and standards, set out the principles which employees and business partners are expected to abide by when working for, or doing business with, Volvo Cars.

Finally, in line with its commitment to fostering an ethical culture, Volvo Cars has developed a broad range of training on ethical business practices for all employees, as well as specific training for managers focusing on behaviour and role modelling.

Greg Maruszewski, VCSA Managing Director: "Volvo Car South Africa subscribes to all global policies, and we are in the process of rolling out the Code of Conduct for Business Partners to all our local suppliers and partners

Heartwarming, I would buy one if I had the money, there's just something honest about the Volvo design that resonates with me.

It's really a crying shame about the poor resale value. I might just get one anyway...

Really? The Kinsey Report seems to suggest they have some of the cheapest parts in their class.
On paper maybe, but in reality availability will determine final cost.
The more scarce a part is, the more you'll pay and Volvo usually falls into this category.

Volvo Gave Away Their Most Important Invention To Save Lives

The reason the three-point seatbelt is so widely adopted is actually because Volvo opened up the patent so that any car manufacturer could use it in their design. They decided that the invention was so significant, it had more value as a free life saving tool than something to profit from.

Volvo’s managing director Alan Dessell is quoted as saying: “The decision to release the three-point seat belt patent was visionary and in line with Volvo’s guiding principle of safety.”
