Does one have to specify a different APN to utilize VPN connectivity? This is specific to a connection using l2tp/IPSEC security. What happens is that "connecting to WAN miniport (l2tp).." is displayed until eventually i receive an error 809.

Yes, you need to ask MTN to provision your sim card on the mtnvpn APN. Call 1555. And good luck - their call center is a minefield of useless support!

Are you getting a public IP address on the MTNVPN apn? If not then your VPN will be a problem as they will be NAT'ing your outbound connection on their firewall/gateway

Looks correct then, you are getting public ip addresses. It should be working for you. Does the VPN server see the traffic coming in, if you sniff the packets there check the IP address it comes from does it match your IP you get on the 3G
