I went old school...got in the roof with my bier mag and LAN cable in tow... lost a liter or 2 sweating...pulled a muscle or 2 trying to be a contortionist getting through roof trusses and wired up each room...bought some trunking and tucked it in there so it all looks neat.

Was a bit unnecessary as 2 room's devices is fine on wifi...just our room which is furthest away from wifi that's connected via ethernet to usb port on Mi Box

Ok so no jumping through any complicated hoops! Its as simple as logging into Mitchellsfibre Huawei router, disabling wifi, connecting LAN 1 to your preferred router's WAN port.

Just enable WAN on your router, set to Automatic IP, set IPv to IPv4/IPv6 and apply!

Now your router runs network and MF router is just an ONT

Speeds are solid and no complaints with latency!

I have to thank a user in our small whatsapp group, not sure what his username is on forum but thank you kind Sir!

I'm happy!
Most welcome

Like nikkel said you can buy a premade cable at the length you need or make your own if you can follow a wiring color chart.

Places like Uniterm Direct and Scoop sells all the cable, tools, plugs, jacks and boots you need (or you can use takealot but they more expensive) I ran cat6 cables in my home last month, a Saturday's worth of effort. Ran a cable for the smart tv in the living room, 2 cables for AP's and 3 cables to wall-jacks in 3 rooms.

Now I just need to save some money for the switch I want :(

My neighbour in zone 5 had his installation done yesterday. Gets 17mbps on download. Seems slightly slower than what I’ve seen on this forum. Anybody start off slower then have the speed increase?

on WiFi it would be slower do a speedtest via ethernet to the modem and check the speed

Will try it that way. Never knew that
There's alot of factors that can affect your connection speed via WiFi , like distance, interference from electronics etc, best way to know your actual speed hook up a phone or computer to the mitchells fibre ONT Router via ethernet and run a speed test
Yep...just like Abu said... make sure no other devices connected to wifi while doing speedtest...or just logon to router, disable wifi and do speedtest via lan cable to pc or laptop if you can

Or you can go to Afrihost, get 2 months free and then migrate to Cool Ideas for the R10 per month saving ;)
