How long has it been since you ordered your package?
My first order was stuffed up but the one I got the installation call for was ordered last Thursday 5th December with Afrihost. Mitchell's Fibre called me Monday morning to schedule an install

Hi, I'm in Zone 4 and waiting expectantly...

Of the 4 providers listed on Vumareach, preorders seem to be open only for 2 when clicking on the listed links and entering my address i.e

Afrihost and MWEB

Cool Ideas and Supersonic coverage maps gives me no fibre option when I enter my address.

Afrihost correctly limits me to preorder the Mitchell's Fibre product at the advertised speeds.

MWEB though offers me multiple packages on the vumatel network, but not the specific Mitchell's Fibre offering.

Here's where it gets interesting though.....driving home Friday and yesterday I saw and spoke to the Telkom fibre reps in Pelican Heights sitting under a Telkom Fibre branded gazebo offering signups for Telkom Fibre on the Vumatel network, insisting that the recently installed fibre infrastructure by Mitchell's Fibre is *open access" as it's Vumatel and any ISP (as in Telkom in this case) can offer different packages. Different speeds and vastly different prices prices too.....all I apparently had to do was sign up with a copy of my ID and municipal bill, no banking details needed as I would pay monthly via EFT, no installation and activation fees if taking a 12 month contract, modem included and they would schedule an installation when the network goes live.

They insisted that no new fibre would have to be installed ( as in a new FNO like Vumatel having to apply for permissions, then trenching/testing etc ).....the installations would be done using the existing fibre in our area, which to my knowledge seems to be only Mitchell's Fibre.

These are the same packages offered on the Telkom website under the Vumatel packages Eg R1210 for 50/5 mbps uncapped.

Anyone else saw or spoke to Telkom reps in other areas covered by Mitchell's Fibre offering similar deals ?

Yeah, just checked....they removed all the Vumatel offerings and now only list the Mitchell's Fibre 20/10 option for Zone 4 as well.

If they cant get their facts right then don't bother with them. The MF/Vuma network in MP only has one package...ISP has to do the 20/10 for R399

Well that's good news, good thing I'm on leave after Friday so they can come anytime to my place :p
Lucky! I still don't really know when the company is closing, but it's looking like next Friday. Thankfully my wife is on leave though XD

Came home today to a road full of technicians busy splicing and testing the fibre points in my road.

I had a long chat with one of the foreman and he gave a honest lay down of their plans.

They, as in the guys busy working here outside contracted under MF, will only complete testing Strandfontein portion of zone4 by the 24th December. Thereafter they submit the results of the tests in order to declare the Strandfontein area live, seeing as it is on the heels of Christmas this might only reflect at ISPs later.
These guys are only taking off on 25th, 26th and the 1st.. thereafter they will start with splicing and testing of the Pelican Heights section of zone 4. Unfortunately he couldn't give me a proper answer on when Pelican heights will be finished, but based on how fast they are doing the entire Strandfontein I wouldn't say it will take longer than a week. Imo I would most rather believe the guy on the ground instead of FB and whatsapp posts.

He also gave me more info regarding the network. The PoP for strandfonttein is located near the Methodist church in Frigate Road. He also more importantly confirmed that the hardware and the racks in the PoP is capable of higher speeds and allows for future expansion, but for now as we know MF business module will maintain the 20/10.

He also let me take a snapshot of the map in my road for any of you guys that may be interested to see how they typically would plan and partition the zones.

I've preordered with Afrihost, but I'm not entirely sure I've received a voucher? I signed up with them, my banking details were verified and I got an order number (unless this is it). Then they told me it was changed to pre-order.

Same here, I think this is it . . . I'm not sure what a voucher looks like in comparison to a order number
