I trust insurance companies probably as much as they trust me. If they can get access to footage to disprove a claim, can I get access to the footage to prove the claim? Or do only paying companies get that privilage and I have to fight in court to get access to the footage either from the insurance or Vumacam?
Well I think fancy lawfirms will probably without a similar deal with Vuma to get the same access as the Insurance Companies and they'll gladly check the footage on your behalf... for a fee of course

And my point is people blindly assume this has been done.

100% agreed there, however the Vuma guy speaks with enough knowledge in the article to make one think this is one of the companies that have done the basics. The company as a whole certainly has the network know-how to do it right.

Well, I for one hope my insurance company is going the extra mile to use tools like this to clamp down on fraudulent claims, and not just being lazy and increasing my premium to cover the losses.

So how long before driver behavior is analyzed via external cam. This is a good entry point and where in npr system could auto send vid and simple AI can pick up stupid things like no stop at stop sign, robot and speed even.

Good times for law obeying citizens

Up to a point, yes - but on the other hand it's a competitive market, and I've got my premium to come down quite a few times by accepting a "FREE QUOTE!!!" offer every few years and telling my broker XYZ is cheaper, make a plan. I have no intention of moving to save a few %, but you have to keep them honest!

I did the same last month, mailed my broker and said I don't have the energy to call around for quotes, and ask for discount. And I got it.

Gimme a brake man

No, throwing cigarette butts out the window should get a MUCH harsher fine than just littering. I would tend towards littering getting R500 - R1000... Cigarette butts should be R2000+ easily.
