I have upgraded recently to a 20MB Fibre through Afrihost/VUMAtel, but my stability has been atrocious.
So far I've had this connection for about 12 days and it seems my old trusty 10MB ADSL is far more reliable, because I keep having to switch back to it. I work from home, time to time, and its very annoying having the line to go up, down, up, down 3-4x a day.
I just don't know who to blame though, but its not right for the paying customer to call support to fix the line almost every other day.
Somedays I just give up and it "automagically" fixes it's self, where as other days I contact support, only for them to tell me to restart my routers and CPE, because according to their systems, the link is up. I then send them a photograph of the FX light off.
The last issue I had, was VUMAtel fiddling with my ports and then subsequently plugging my connection into the wrong port. That took over 24 HOURS to fix. The techy was insistent that the problem was on my premises and after making an appointment, he didn't bother to pitch (granted, it was like 19:30) - next morning its suddenly working.
Will someone at VUMAtel/Afrihost please take accountability and address this issue ... please.
