This would be a good time for Telkom to "win" back customers. Go into the Vumatel coverage areas and install the fibre on the poles (much quicker install time), then put an advert in the post box of each house with their new pricing, and say, no cost to switch across, free router (12 months claw back). I am sure a lot of people would switch.

Then again this is Telkom, what they "should" do and what they "do" is another story.

If Vumatel doesn't drop their pricing by, uh, a lot they are going to lose the popularity contest....

It's actually BS.
So many people just want a reliable and affordable 10/10 fibre line.

The cost difference between offering a 20Mbit service and 10Mbit service is minimal, maybe R10 or R20 per month depending on the contention ratio.

Chances are they were subsidizing the profitability of the entry level products with the higher speed ones. They are increasing profits by killing less profitable ones

Any lte products uncapped at R750 except anything that telkom has to offer?
Supersonic Uncapped for R999 if you're willing to budge up a little more, no contractual obligation but the deal 'runs out' after 24 months signed up to it, and you must return their router.

Worth a shot if you're around a strong MTN presence and there's a very low chance of suboptimal performance, especially with higher end routers.

Vumatel is trying to become telkom, and telkom is becoming vumatel lol
well in the sense they completing a circle...all those recent executive appointments hail from Vodacom, and before that they called Telkom home...
