Well tell that to my line, while trenching they cut pipe and cable inside.
Now I had issue with telkom for a few weeks so when I went to check it out their workers pleaded ignorance.
After asking guy to check broken pipe he stuck his finger and said that there is no wire and it is irrigation.

Reported issue to telkom they showed up 5 days later and guess what,
it was line and I checked pipe and there was cable inside.

Turns out few of the houses in our street had same problem.
Lines were cut and they just kept it quiet.

That would apply equally to anyone working there though.

And you could argue it’s Telkom’s fault for not protecting it properly.

No, not exactly, the aging copper infrastructure in the ground does get affected by the man with the pick trenching nearby.

Yeah physically interaction is a different story.

But that doesn’t fit in with the OP’s story.

It was inside pipe so I'm not sure what else they could do.

My main issue was that they lied about it, if they said yes we did it I would not have a problem.
We could fix it up straight away without telkom involvement. Vuma guys had to show up in any case to dig all out and enable telkom guy to fix it up.

You're gonna fix it yourself with some unused wire coat hangers? Because the Vumatel guys will certainly not touch it because they don't own the infrastructure.

You are welcome to learn the hard way, but my advice is do not deliberately touch telkom wires.
