I have a 2mb or 4mb line with Telkom (I don't even remember). Getting 150-250 kb/s downloads.

I heard with Fiber if you get a 4mb line you actually download at 4mb, none of this hokey pokey BS. Is that true?

Recommend me a package? I checked their site but can't tell who to use or if it even matters.

This is akin to asking if a person needs to breath in order to live.

The answer is yes. It's always yes.

Get fibre. Does not matter what package you get, just get it.

I would say what are you going to use it for, i have the option of Fibre but have no need for it as my needs are served for by current line, but who knows in the future...

One of the guys on myBB had fibre pulled into his house but hasn't had it activated. That could be an option for OP.

.......Kind of Schrodinger's fibre, he has it but he doesn't have it :D

Seriously though, when I lived alone I was in the same position - happy with ADSL, reliable, decent speeds etc.

These days there are more people living in the house so we're sharing the cost and have applied for fibre. Will see how it goes.

You only upgrade to fibre if you're planning to get over 10mb/s.
Otherwise just stick to ADSL.

I would disagree. Not only would it probably work out cheaper in the long run to go with fibre (no telkom analogue line tax) but the upgrade path in the future is also just a single phone call.

Figure out how much you have to spend per month. Get the package that is closest to this amount. Fin.

4Mb Rocketnet @ R445 Uncapped and Unshaped on Vumatel, better than 4Mb adsl so yes go for it, 4Mb adsl is like 3.7Mbps download where on Vuma you get 4.1Mbps download

Their activation fee is crazy, plus a crazy install fee, R4000 just for those 2, I hope the Vumatel fee of R1750 is included in that at least...
If they give you a "free" mikrotik router stay very far away cause they will probably not give you access to it.

Activation fee is a rip off.

Best to go with these guys on a month to month and see.
