Is this just a smoke and mirror show to increase their base offering to 50/50 to have better price parity with FNO competitors while not pushing the onus on to the ISPs?
But they mostly don’t have competitors. How many people have two operators in the area?

If it takes two weeks to process the speed upgrade, then the promotion is effectively 4 weeks.
It's not four weeks, but three months. The promo starts on the 13th of June and lasts until the 13th of September. Got a email detailing this earlier today from my ISP. What Coolideas are doing however, is a totally different matter.

I'm confused. Vuma is the back bone so unless the ISP's also allow it, how does this work?
Vuma just connects you to your ISP. Your ISP needs to upgrade its bandwidth service for you as well.

Remember your ISP pays Vumatel most of the money you pay them, for that line. Then they need to have enough money left over to provide you with decent internet access and support. When Vumatel does a "free" upgrade, they only discount a part of the service. The ISP still needs to buy a fatter pipe with Vumatel and more bandwidth to the rest of the internet.

Usually, ISPs support budget gets cut, or they don't participate in the special.

That was my point, without isps following through, no change.

I'm not sure about other ISP's but this will be our offering from the 13th onward.

The 100/100 Vumatel line will almost be the most affordable 100Mbps line. We welcome any competition and excited for the new prices. More info after the 13th. ;)
Can it YouTube though?

Great news though, I would consider switching from Cool Ideas, depending on the price and shlep

I think that most who are questioning it are rightly suspicious.

This does not appear to be a simple “free upgrade” and looks much more like the classic marketing tactic of trying to induce a false “need” in your customers in order to sell more. It looks like a forced try-and-maybe-you-will-buy scenario.

It could be helpful, perhaps, to view it in your terms as a freebie but it is far more likely that this is a manipulation by Vumatel, a company that is already expensive, and I think that is what people are actually feeling uncomfortable about.
What is the name of that song, oh yes - Suspicious minds

Fair point

The YouTube issues have been resolved after Google upgraded some JHB cache servers.

We still have our own JHB caches on the way as extra capacity so we do not expect issues again.

I’m more interested in Afrihost’s new Vumatel pricing, do we get that email today? :D
