Would cause the entire country to collapse. There's a reason why Durban is (was) the busiest port in the Southern Hemisphere. Gauteng needs KZN more than KZN needs Gauteng.

Nah, that is not the case..

Both need each other for many different reasons...

KZN will vote to make our water resources independent from the rest of you fsckers....

Then you can die of thirst :p
"water resources"... there are other beaches... I'm sure all those tourists collecting bottles of sea water will survive:giggle:

KZN has the reasources and arable land to self reliant. (If managed properly) then the other industries most with the exception of mining can be done in KZN.

Yeah, in some ways we could be self reliant, in many others we couldn't...

We don't have the population and employment base to operate as a full country currently, we would collapse under the weight of the money required to operate as a country.,

Especially with large number of the potential labour force gone to Gauteng.

Actually Guateng gets its water from Lesotho.

If KZN was kicked out of SA it would be the poorest nation on earth in a week.
Actually the LHWP, the Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase 1 only provides 20 to 30% of water to GP AFAIK.
Phase 2 might double that, and the increased hydro power after P 2 would probably make LS an electricity exporter. LS is already almost energy independent with some windgenerators high in the Malutis and hydro power at Muela.. There is no loadshedding and lower power and fuel prices.

and this is why we all can't have nice things.

 police force
Due to incidents of intimidation and threats made by various groups in KwaZulu-Natal, it is not safe or practical for the contractors to continue working in the field at the moment
Why would KZN not want fibre infrastructure?

It's just incomprehensible to me that KZN would prevent fibre roll out that is being done by the private sector at no cost to taxpayers.

What does KZN hope to gain?
Why?

If they keep carrying on like this we will gain nothing and I have been hoping for fibre to be rolled out since 2015.

Its not kzn preventing it... its the 'mafias' that have infected everything down there that are basically chasing away investment.

So I say, they demand a job, great, they can build that wall:D We can go back in a couple of hundred years and see how its going

Who's this mafia?
Is this the same mafia that attack and rob ambulances and burn libraries and schools?
Is it the KZN govt?
Is it the KZN people?
Seems the people in charge do not recognize the benefits of fibre.

Organised criminal parasites forcing developments to employ 'their' people at inflated prices whilst paying them(the leaders) handsome fees to keep the peace... if you don't, they bus in 'their' people, burn loot destroy everything, and yes, kill

Probably paid off and probably some cadres involved also. They mainly target metro contractors. There's actually a security company that specialises in protecting contractors.

A "security contractor" - you mean mafia?
Just inflates the costs for consumers.

What do you mean also JHB?

I'm in JHB South and waiting for Vumatel Fibre - does this mean it's cancelled?
It's not targeted at Fibre... It's any development project.... It hasn't gained widespread footing in the rest of the country but its starting...

An example is the iron man in pe was a target...

The community/business forums are getting out of hand and the police say they can do nothing about it.
