The community/business forums are getting out of hand and the police say they can do nothing about it.
They choose to do nothing about it more likely.. Partly because they've been threatened by said forums.. Partly because there are political games afoot and partly because some senior police members stand to gain handsomely from the contracts that the forum ultimately gets given so work can continue.

This fscking mentality that pervades with people demanding the work be given to them needs to be dealt with somehow.... pity our police force seem unwilling to deal with it :(
YOU must have been the person from PINETOWN complaining ?
Care to re-consider your comments with respect to my posts .....
or
Are you going to claim that these are -- ISOLATED incidents ?
Then
We can get talking about the -- Construction MAFIA in KZN !

BTW ;
in our reasonably upmarket quiet neighbourhood -- FIVE gunshots from a pistol this evening ( two taps and then three taps )
I considered reporting it .... I am sure if I pop into the SAPS station tomorrow morning I will be met with a stoney silence !

Who's this mafia?
Is this the same mafia that attack and rob ambulances and burn libraries and schools?
Is it the KZN govt?
Is it the KZN people?
Seems the people in charge do not recognize the benefits of fibre.

I've seen this same thing happen with many big construction projects over the years - shopping centers are usually the most affected. It's because there's still a bunch of Zulu/whatever Chiefs here, and they demand that their people get the work. Government is too scared to do anything about it, because hundreds of thousands of votes will are being held hostage.

With big construction projects they usually just hire a bunch of locals for the grunt work, but it's not so easy with fiber, because you're in and out of the area with a smaller, tighter crew, and don't have time to develop the relationships with every stupid little induna as you work on their land for a few weeks. The new freeway between Pinetown and Durban North was held up for DECADES because of this petty tribalism.

Easier just to take your money to a province that doesn't have these problems. Whether you connect up someone in KZN or Gauteng, you're going to make the same money from the user subs, so why go to all the extra effort? Totally understandable.

So they dig up all the Telkom lines and chase away the Fibre guys. How about if Eskom techies show up gonna chase them away too? I think not because they are very selective when it comes to their tribal claims/sovereignty; chase away when it does not suit, open arms when it does. Pfft.

Speak to some of the Eskom techies that have to venture into the "hoods"
Happens to everyone that is trying to bring a PAID service to these places

Pretty much the ancient days of petty warlords to whom one must bring 'GIFTS"
and then
Depends on how they are feeling whether one is allowed to carry on through their "lands" or not
Pretty much SA -- post Apocalypse

Nah, that is not the case..
Both need each other for many different reasons...
NAH !
The Chinese will upgrade MAPUTO
and
Build a super highway road and rail link to the REEF

GOODBYE -- Durban / Richards Bay / KZN
The N3 will be used for driving cattle , goats , and donkeys
The Zulu will start raiding and killing the smaller tribes

Not surprised at this decision.
Just glad we managed to get Fibre already.

Reminds me of an episode with this snake hunter guy. He was called in due to complaints about a big Python in one of those outlying villages. Upon trying to remove it the village elders confronted him and told him he cannot remove it as it's one of their visiting ancestors etc etc

But he pressed the issue telling them how dangerous the snake was. Turns out it had nothing to do with spirits or elders, the villagers were just after his dollars and were trying to make a quick buck off of him.

This is so disappointing to read. If this continues, our country will never progress forward.

We are here. 123NET continues to expand its fibre network in Durban.
We welcome all complexes that are still in a waiting list. :)

Funny enough I it looks like somebody else is installing fibre in my area, I think it's Fibre. It looks like yellow ducting but it's 1/4 the width off the previous company was installing with the purple ducting

KZN - no surprises there. That place has become the shithole of the country.

You've got be joking. 123net has got to be one of the biggest disappointments in the fiber space, they went from promising rollout in multiple areas if sign up in 2012 about to not doing anything anywhere besides that small area in KZN. And then I think they also upped prices compared to beginning, so nty.

I bet you are wrong with the years. As we started in 2015. :) But we do not have the financial back of Vuma. They took the millions. Didn't they?

Our prices? Check them on the website and then we discuss again :)
