Yeah, but even dead you will NEVER see her in a VW ;)

Didnt that guy do speeds about double that of what a Sh1t1 can manage ?

Face it, all cars can break into two, Sh1t1 Golf manage to do it at much lower speeds...

Prince William is a big GTi fan, im sure she went for a drive!

Wow, that citi golf must have been doing at most 30km/h when it hit that tree...

What a lame argument: "any car is dangerous given sufficient speed, so stop knocking the Citi's lack of safety features."

Yeah, a Citi splits in two hitting a tree at 90km/h. A 335i splits in two hitting a tree at 240km/h. No difference at all really.

i hate those cars so much!! they should really stop making those crappy cars or completey re-design it from scratch!!

VW did redesign the Golf from scratch. It's called the Golf 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Isn't SA the only country where the citi is actually still sold "new"?

Yes, as far as I know. In places like Brazil they still sell the Typ2 Microbus as "new" but as replacement for the Beetle (which was also until recent) they have the Gol. In Europe the is the Fox that competes with the Yaris and Agila.

Somehow VW justifies selling old rublish as new to developing nations like Brazil and SA. The FIAT Uno and Corsa B (Lite) are also good example of this. Even the new Renualt Logan and Sandero are example of how they ripoff developing countries because we all know the Logan and Sandero are actually Dacia and that is sub-Renault.

I have personally seen the aftermath of an accident in which a CITI was split in two - that aint no safety feature in fact it was split just behind the driver/passenger section so the post about the engine not entering the cabin is BS. Double fatality incidentally - probably would have been more death its just that there were no more passengers to kill.

My cousin and another kid past away in a Toyota Camry (first shape) in Durban when the Camry split in 2 after hitting a tree. That was in 1996.

I hope they stop manufacturing that tin can soon. South Africa are the only idiots still doing it, because they're the only ones with idiots still willing to buy the damn thing. No one cares about safety, or anything. In that case, I'd rather drive a proper old car, with proper handling, a proper engine and proper interior. Probably be safer too.

I'm getting damn tired of seeing that piece of crap on the road. They designed that thing right after they phased out the VW beetle back in '76. I would bet my bottom dollar that the old bug would do better in a crash test than that square piece of trash. I actually won one once (a good few years ago), believe it or not at the casino! The irony. Sold the damn thing the next day soon as the hangover wore off and blew the cash.

Wouldn't drive one on the roads if you paid me.

It is true that South Africans don't give a crap about road safety. Just look at how many people drive without seatbelts on and how many Unos and Sh1t1s are on our roads. But that is evolution for you.

If you wondered about the crash results of the VW Beatle, VW Golf Mk1 (Citi) and VW TYP3 Microbus/Kombi/Transporter/Van then check out this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jy_ihtfnUM called the Top 10 Worst Crash Test Compilation.

I bet safety is rarely a thing the majority of people look at when they buy a new car.

For me it is extremely important, although it doesn't offer to get me alive out of accident, it at least improve my chance of surviving!

Yeah, just 2 months ago a 2008 model Audi A3 was split in half much the same way on Otto du Plessis in Milnerton. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the impact velocity.

I hear what you are saying but that vid was not the best. It looked like a MK2 golf to me. And we have no idea about the speeds of the vehicles.

Also, the objects the cars hit vary greatly - like the bus that disappears into a solid wall - none of the other cars were put up against a wall.
