Hi All

I recently acquire an automatic VW Caravelle body and urgently require assistance in getting it on the road.
I've been trying to find a place to do the conversion for me, to no available. I would appreciate it if anybody can direct me to who I can contact to do the job for me.
I am planning on using a 2 liter GTI or 4y motor and convert to manual gearbox as I can't find an automatic gearbox anywhere. Any assistance with the gearbox will also be appreciated...

You should probably give your general location, so forumites might be able to direct you to workshops in your area.

You can't just stick any motor in there as the original motor is a flat 4 so that it doesn't sick up into the boot.

What he said.
The 2 liter engines works fine. By brother in law does conversions like these.

There is another forum for VWclub where you will get more answers. A few of us here is also on that forum.

Bit of a derail, but I wonder what has happened to Daan Jacobs conversions? EVERYBODY with a VW Kombi and a caravan had a DJ conversion vehicle.

Blast from the past. My best friend dad, in the eighties, had one of those in red. Was a beast(LOL) in those days.

Don't do it. The flat-4 2.1 "wasserboxer" is one of the last true VW engines around. If possible keep it stock for as long as you can.
