Hi Folks, I'm keen on buying either a new or 2nd hand Golf 6 GTI.

I stumbled upon the Top Gear website and read that VW may be launching the Golf 7 either towards the end of 2012 or early 2013. No news on SA launch yet but speculation is that it wont be too far off the international launch

Should I go ahead and get the new 6 GTI or go 2nd hand and wait for the 7?

It all depends on your choice and budget.Golfs keep their resale value so it doesn't matter .They still great cars.Also,there are only spy shots out for the 7 at this time so you are not sure how it really looks.My 2 cents.
 
VW never offer the GTI on launch of a new Golf generation so you will probably only see G7 GTI in 2014! Go for a 2nd hand G6. If you wanna buy new then at least try get the anniversary edition, it will be that bit more special and you'll be less sad when the G7's start running around than if you were in a plain jane GTi.
 
Leaning towards 2nd hand. A mate bought a brand new Golf 5 GTI late 2008, only to be usurped by the 6 in 2009! Still holds great value though.
 
Get yourself an Audi RS3 and be happy. Be very very happy. You'll smoke a golf 8 gti...

Yeah, and rather don't even try, let us creative non-vag people come up with things like slopel or oupiel. Were better at not being bored and unimaginative.

I'm sure there's something about oil leaks in there somewhere as well :p Can't be half-arsed to think of it though, guys like Roux obviously have a lot of time on their hands while waiting for their cars to be repaired.

Oil Pours Everything Leaks :p
(Not joking actually, I did have coolant leaks, twice!)

I somehow doubt a Golf will be a 4.6 second car as standard ... ;)

I'd be impressed if it managed a real sub 6 seconds actually
