Unfortunately not special enough. Capable yes!
Megan Trophy, Civic R, GR Yaris, I30N, used M2 hahaaahaa... might not all be better. but more interesting.

As for A45, stupidly expensive. I hate the screens and sounds souless in the new guise.

GTI/GOLF R has a cult following here. It will do fine.

pro

problem with the A45 is that its generally driven buy 20 year snobs that was purchased by Daddy.Do you want to be associated with that crowd ?
It's a Merc, I am 46 so I couldn't care less. It's brutal, looks like a proper hot hatch (not some generic car with a few bits added on), and is quick as all hell.
GTIs are driven by guys who will end up most like owning (or want to own) an M3/M4 and then ascend to really driving like a douche.

The biggest problem with the A45 is it doesnt feel exciting. Its bloody quick, but so is a tesla.
Dynamically the Golf R is known to be more fun... none of these comes close to a focussed FWD hot hatch though

I had a Golf once upon a time - had being the operative word. It's not my cup of tea, and that's also okay. I guess I just don't get the hype.

Citi Golf is not a real Golf.

This is a Golf R , it is special , and the best vehicle in its class.

DISCLAIMER: I do not represent VW in any way, nor do I own a Golf R

It's not meant to be this beautiful, generic looking hot hatch though is it? It's brutal, sounds amazong, and looks the part of a proper hot hatch.
The interior is brutal to the eyes, definately, but maybe you mean something else ?

Look, you're clearly a Golf fan. But let's break it down into smaller pieces so you can understand things a bit easier: Brutal acceleration; most powerful and fastest production hatch on the planet); designed to look like a proper hot hatch and set it apart from the other A-Class models; Interior is fine (unless you want bland in which case you look for a Golf).
Slightly more niche than a Golf GTI, but it'll stand out much faster than a GTI and get more looks.

It has a VW badge on, and Golf lettering on the mudflaps and bootlid. Why isn't it a real Golf? Are we going to ignore that fact that the Mk1 existed (and that VWSA milked the tooling for it until as recently as 2009) and jump straight to the Jumbo Golf?

So i was right, you drove a Citi Golf ?

the Citi Golf was the entry level of the range, not sure why you comparing apples to oranges ?

Do you buy a 320 with M Performance badges and bodykit and compare it to the M3 ?

So brutal it only just beats the R ?

In looks wise, the R is far ahead. That Merc is just hideous.

I also like the M140, but mostly because it looks like they tried to copy the A45.

The Golf R is not much of a change over the standard Golf...more subtle than anything.

So brutal it does more than just beat the R...

(comes from behind after a bad start to almost beat it before beating it easily enough and pretty comprehensively)

(beating the previous Golf R)
