VW golf tsi dsg or manual

Hi all, I'm in the market for the golf 7 tsi and split between a dsg and manual,

I know dsg is brilliant on gti but hw does it go with a tsi engine,

Your thoughts please?

It's down to preference. For me, 3 pedals are better than 2.

I have a DSG box on a TDI engine and just like on my previous car DSG on 2.0 TFSI this thing is magic. The sad part is, it becomes the new measuring stick by which you will judge all gearboxes going forward.

I'm not vdub fan at all...
and even I will readily admit that people call it the "das super gearbox" for good reason.

As a word of caution, wife had 2 golf 7 dsg's out of the box. First one turbo had issues at 8000kms, clutch was replaced at 12000kms and at 25000kms the actual gearbox had to be replaced. After a long fight vw relented and she was given a new car. Replacement started giving the same trouble at 10000kms so we sold it off and got something other than a vw.

This is true, this is sad. I have an Stronic, my dad mobile is a manual

It's not automatic! It's an electronic direct shift gearbox...

The GTI is just a 2.0 TSI/FSI with different suspension and seats and fiddly bits.

The box performs the same on all the other spec models and is pretty much the exact same thing.

I'll never go back.

But as with all things car...TEST DRIVE them all and you can decide.

Buying a car without driving it is dof.

No offense, but the chances of you getting 2 lemons from VW are highly unlikely...

That's what we also thought initially, experience has been different though. Wife still has all the correspondence with the dealer principal and vwsa on the issues we were having, they can't explain why but something was wrong.

If you enjoy driving go with the manual, if you see it as a chore get the dsg.
