Stays in the middle - never moving from there for me too
Yes, this one. I'm super-impressed. Considering mine is a 1,0-litre TSI putting out 85kw and 200Nm, I'd have expected some heat from the stress ... but nope. Revs stay super low with DSG, so I guess that helps.

Engine Techniques in Brackenfell.

VW specialist and will sort you out double quick.

Funnily enough right next door to Goeiehoop Onderdele mentioned above.

Don't be so impressed, the 90 Deg C mark on most VW coolant temperature gauges is based on a temperature from around 80 Deg C - 100 Deg C, I can't remember the specific temperature range but it is a range.

*shocked face* Since when did needles in cars show you ranges??? Haai shem VW. That's good marketing of the #dieselgate variety, not good engineering.

Or any gauges. Monitor OBDII with Torque, and while the needle is dead steady, the actual measured temp can vary up or down by quite a bit. It's pretty interesting watching it while you drive.

VW has done this for years, it is one of the reasons I watched oil temperature in my MkVII Golf instead of coolant temperature. I can't remember the official reason but imagine it has something to do with not having the gauge move too much and potentially cause unnecessary concern.

I used to do this in my 9n Polo TDi as I had an LCD display with various measuring block outputs linked via OBDII.

Good Morning All

Just to touch base, it was my thermostat that had to be replaced, had great help from a place called Ultra Service Centre in Beaconvale, Parow. They were professional and the price was a third of what the agents quoted me.

Truly found a gem in this place...thank you for all the feedback, will return when I have more queries.

Keep safe

A

Any change for the worst after a service (excluding better performance) means that the idiots who did the service did something wrong. Par for the course. But I would not be too concerned about a temperature change which is not abnormally low or abnormally high.
Not always, I prefer to approach it with an open mind, sometimes it's just a not so wonderful coincidence.
You see? It was a coincidence after all and had nothing to do with the guy who replaced the worn pipe.

He is happy, a "fault" has been found by a third party, which could not be found by the OEM guys -----
My view stands, OEM service agents are the pits.

I don't think he ever took it to the OEM guys, I remember him saying they are closed and asking for suggestions where to take it.

I thought the same, although I only take my cars to independents instead of OEM's, if I can't do the job myself that is.

Hi
I know this an old thread but im desperate for clarification.. i own a 1996 Polo1.8 Classic
Recently the heat gauge picks up to110° after the car is switched off..
1)the fans used to kick in after the car is switched off..now it doesnt do that..
2)whilst driving the needle edges over the centre mark..about aneedle width.
Ive replaced nearly everything besides the computer box.. started at fan relay unit black box..radiator bottle..temp sender switch..
Recon the radiator..changed water pump..new top hose n bottom hose..
Then recon the cylinder head...new thermostat housing..new thermostat..new temp switch housing..new housing on side of the head.. cleaned out the two water pipes on throttle body..
Then pulled out the cluster yesterday and had it checked up at SPE instruments..cluster was matched to another inhouse..gauges read the same..
Im now stumped.. where to from here
