Ford Fiesta of course. Fiesta & Getz is slightly more fuel efficient than Polo unless you can find a decent TDI but then it depends on which model or generation. According to Kingsley Reports the Fiesta and Getz is cheaper to maintain than Polo, this only applies to older generation models, not new, newer generations are different. If you want a super reliable, go for Honda Ballade or Toyota Tazz
Thanks. I will look at the Honda. Tazz has no airbags.

Polo in terms of reliability, maintenance and resal value. You cannot go wrong as it's the most affordable option.

Hi All

I drive a 2006 Renault Clio three that I am selling. The reason for the sale is because the car service, parts and maintenance are expensive.

My replacement shortlist is VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Getz or Opel Corsa Gamma.

Which car from my shortlist is reliable, low on fuel consumption and has low service costs?

I stay in Fourways JHB and work in Arcadia PTA. From home to work I drive 100km return. The car has to be reliable.

My budget is 50k – 60k.

My colleague is selling his VW Polo 1.4 Trendline (Going for the Ecoboost Fiesta). He said he wants 65, but maybe you can negotiate. PM me

Stay away from a Polo or Corsa in that price range. Rather get something Japanese. It will be much more reliable.

Thanks Munangiwa, I need to sell my Renault first before I can buy. A lady is coming to view the car later today. I will PM if she buys it.

Go for the fiesta.

Have had one for 4 years, 140 000km and I haven't had a single significant mechanical failure while its had a hiding every day of its life.

Good fuel economy too. 14.5-15km/l highway.

12km/l in heavy traffic.

12.5km/l on the open road. (Bad due to a combination of high gearing, city car aerodynamics, use of the aircon and a lead foot necessitated by the use of the aircon :D)

Build quality is good too, but not as nice as similar era polo's.

Thank you, and i realise the hatchback might not be too everyone's taste, but maybe the sedan then

Still don't understand what people have against it, maybe its obvias or maybe its just looks wise,

This is what I have against it::sick:

The thing I have against most Honda interiors is the lack at an attempt of symmetry. Don't get me wrong, I think center mounted speedo binnacles are from the devil, but that odd air vent with hazard switch just does not works for me.
