Small and under powered.
Meh.
929 kg + 95Nm + 5100 meters altitude (Highveld) + hills = not sure if they'll even be okay for city driving.
Can you imagine putting four people into this and trying to climb a hill on the N1 at 100km/h?
5100m? Pretty sure you meant feet, we're at 1300-1500m
Pity there's no turbo engine in the line up, should be quite nippy down at the coast though.
It's actually not horrible, keeping in mind that these cars will likely spend the majority of their lives 1 or 2 up and below 100km/h.929 kg + 95Nm + 1500 meters altitude (Highveld) + hills = not sure if they'll even be okay for city driving.

Makes the Brio feel like the tinny lunchbox it is though.
the datsun go is a lunchbox on wheels, the etios is really stupid,
what else, i10, picanto, geely,
the brio is the one car that seems the best manufactured,not badge engineered, not sharing any components with any other car;
got proper safety features, even on the base trend model, totally clean sheet design ground up new, no recalls on it.
one of these days Ill drive one and then make a even better case for it, or somebody here who actually owns one can comment,
but I always say this; unless there's really something horribly wrong with it; I STILL dont see why not......
(unless as you select 2nd gear and it explodes)![]()
Trust me, the brio is not the best.. its a monumental POS.
I drove one.. I would never ever ever put my money down to buy one... the test drive was enough for me to know that its a crap car.
Yes it may be put together well, and it may not break down or any of those things, but its a monumentally crap drive.
Ok,so you did actually drive one, fair enough, what did you buy eventually then? or I should maybe ask what did you come from;
Ill admit If I came from a BMW 5 series into a brio, I admit id be pretty disappointed too; but Im coming from a kia picanto with a boxsburg exhaust and no AC or P/S.
for me at least looking at all the cars for under 130K this seems the best of all of them; you get everything you could ever want or need, and you have a honda;
the most reliable and trouble free of all the major brands; you still see ballades with 500000 KM's still driving around,
where is kingmigel..... he actually brought (sedan) of these cars; maybe he can settle this for us.......
I didn't end up buying anything...
Trust me, the Picanto is a better drive than the Brio. I arrived in a 13 yr old double cab, drove the Brio, was disappointed... drove a 1 yr old Picanto and it was night and day, the Picanto was nippy, responsive and felt tight as all hell.
It all depends where VWSA wants to position the Up! in the market. My guess is that because they have the Vivo and they will milk it to the end of time (like the Citi) they will keep the Up! somewhere between the Vivo and Polo. Unlike Europe where the Up! is the cheapest entry level VW we have the Vivo here, add to that some similarly sized competition like the Adam and 500 which are way more up market by the way, and VWSA has a cheap small car they can sell at a high price. The South Africa car buyer is one of the stupidest around and they will easy believe the Up! is competition for the Adam or 500.So I guess the polo entry price will be climbing ;-)
Meh. All these cars are staring to look the same.
