Wake up or continue to lose ground: Google SA country manager

You can be an alien from a parallel universe, and the government will still not give a hoot.

It would be nice to find out exactly who is sponsoring what.
Google for hosting.
SMS notification after completing the contact form I assume is Vodacom.

So the other two partners DTI and HDRC what exactly are they doing?

Here is a good idea. Google as I know does not publish total number of searches per country or provide country rankings for total google searches. Surely Luke McKend the South Africa country manager will be able to get his hands on that info.
If it shows South Africa are behind in number google searches in Africa then surely that is a much bigger wake up call then making these sub conscious statements although true are not backed up by facts.

Google's statements are falling on deaf ears. Government does not care about innovation and getting the country to catch up with the rest of the world tech wise. So they might as well save their energy for better things.

I doubt we'd be pleased with a truthful answer in this regard, and that's highly unlikely to happen. J

Google SA head says that we need a greater sense of urgency from government to boost tech innovation in South Africa

I doubt very much that's gonna happen, the only sense of urgency current government has is to line their pockets with public money. Tech innovation? Maybe Verwoerd made that too hard as well.
