Walmart considers total takeover of Game and Makro owner

Massmart has reached a principle agreement with majority shareholder Walmart that could potentially see the US-based multinational corporation acquire all of the company's remaining shares.

In a notification to Massmart shareholders on Monday, 29 August 2022, Massmart laid out the salient terms of the potential offer.

They must just do it & one time bring in their Great Value house brand properly. In the US Walmart there are so many GV items it is unreal & the value aspect vs competing products is top notch, at times almost 1/2 the price.

The US market has many direct competitors - here, well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hopefully this results in a name change to Walmart. We as consumers need them to have actual skin in the game to see results, otherwise it'll just be more of the same really.

Amazon moving into the country is probably motivating them to do this. Two titans fighting it out in Africa will be good for us.

Walmart realizes if they leave Amazon unchallenged in Africa, within a decade or two they will completely take over. It's time for them to start taking the game more seriously.

EFF will be rioting. You can't have an over-size, lazy work-force doing nothing all day when you're owned by Walmart. They have strict employment delivery requirements.

EDIT - not that it is like that now, in fact yesterday at Makro I had absolutely incredible service. But the fact is the EFF want no investment in this country and 25 people to do the job of 1.

There's no way Walmart would get away with treating their customers like criminals in the US the way they do at Makro.

Yeah coz there’s Target, Costco, Kroger, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes and probably a dozen others keeping them in check not to mention Amazon too.
