Want to convert HEVC video format

i have a particular series Which is in HEVC format and I want to convert to say AVI or similar. I normally use Freemake Video Converter for all other stuff but it wont do this HEVC stuff.
Any ideas?

This is a good weekend read, and I'm definitely going to look at shifting the format that my media is in to make them take up less space.

Edit: Oh, I see you actually want to convert from HEVC to something else. I'm stumped there. Handbrake should be able to do it.

Use Handbrake. It will convert to x264 MP4 in a batch.

Why do you need AVI specifically? x264 should play on the majority of devices.

Handbrake works perfectly converting Mkv to mp4, and the quality is actually better.
