Damn I should have stayed subscribed just so I could run the speed test in a loop and bring down their averages haha

Does it even make a difference?
TI allow me to go 300gb + on a 2mb line and even after that I can still get 100gb more at slightly lower dl speeds.

I agree actually.... Why does it matter. Telkom allows about 400gb of downloads on a 4mb line before they start throttling.... WAY more than mweb by the looks of it.

I think i read on another MWEB thread that it looks like 50gb per 1mb connection. ie..

1mb Uncapped Throttle @ 50gb
2mb Uncapped Throttle @ 100gb
4mb Uncapped Throttle @ 200gb

how true this is ? no Idea...

Serious question, why are you still with Mweb?

If they have practices you don't like, what's stopping you from moving? Effort? Locked into contracts? Why tolerate this when other ISP's don't punish you for using the Internet?

I've moved twice away from MWeb, both times I've come back due to getting worse performance from other ISPs. First was TRLTech then it was Afrihost when they were having all those issues with the MTN move over.

And that sounds about reasonable... 100GB per 1Mbps. Since theoretically you could download 1TB, 400GB or 40% of your total theoretical download p/m sounds fair.
Even with HD streaming on a daily basis and some hefty downloads here and there, I reach about 300GB in a month. Haven't hit over 500GB a month since... well, a couple years.

@Mod -A poll along the lines of "I have cancelled/will be cancelling my mweb account because of throttling" would be useful?

I abandoned Mweb when SEACOM went down the last time... went back to Afrihost, been happy ever since! :)

So I just hit 80gb and now I can't even surf the net. Pages wont load and when they do load 20 minutes later, they have no pictures. Had to call in my free Afrihost gig and will now be purchasing a few gigs to get me and the family through the month.

I had no idea that throttling meant getting below 10KB/s. This totally caught me off guard. Luckily, I cancelled last month so only 15 days left.

I guess no-one can beat your 11ms ping though - I am jealous ;-) (Switch to Afrihost - you will never look back).
