Do not get yourself tied up as I am ... do not sign up with this company.
They will lie to you about the service or reduce your service to nothing without giving you any option to bail out.

I am stuck with at least another year of this 3 year contract about which I have been fighting since about day 15 or - was okay in the beginning ... LTE Promo 10G+10G .... R399 per month.
I have had the Poynting antennae installed - directed to a tower that is under 3 kms away line of sight.

This is the type of service I get

3 bars, ping 90ms ...
.... download 0.61Mbps, upload 1.72Mbps.

Or ping:121, download:0.72Mbps, upload:1.46Mbps

Contract was " ... up to 40Mbps ..." - yeah, bloody right !!!

I am unable to work and have lost business due to this - cannot connect to do the work I need to.
No way to get out of the contract either.

Avoid the heartache if you can.

Wow! That's some very bad speeds! You should try to get Telkom Mobile to give you a resolution to your problem with their LTE service in your area. I am close to Joburg CBD and their service are occasionally forcing me to roam on MTN but luckily I don't use their voice service that much.

I get similar speeds as OP.

It was fine in the beginning and then it went arse up and I can't work from home at night.

Service in a whole in this country is bad as hell. But Telkom takes the cake. Like you said in the beginning it was fine but now u get very low speed results. I just extended my contract from the 10gig + 10gig to 20gig + 20gig with an LTE router. I get speeds between 40mbps and 60mbps but sometimes goes down to 20mbps. I'm just waiting for this to drop down very low and then I'll strip my ....

Day 15 or 30 or somewhere around there, they changed the Southdowns tower to focus on Midstream Estate.
Apparently Midstream will not allow people to put up towers in their area so telkom turns their towers to focus on the hoy-paloiy.
I am in Highveld, on the edge of the coverage and when Midstream wants - I get nothing.

I managed to survive a year by abandoning the Poynting antennae they installed and buying myself a wi-fi repeater to talk to the bunny-ears B593 upstairs now pointing to a Centurion tower rather than the Southdowns one.
When that went tits up recently I had to go back to the antennae. ... Running at 5 beautiful bars right now, but no throughput.
Speedtest.net ... Ping 109, upload 0.59 and then died before it finished.
( So yes, I will post this once I get something again )

Got it redone ... ping 109, download 0.73 Mbps, upload amazingly 5.51Mbps.
Be nice if I could swap download cr@p for upload, bwa-ha-ha :) :)

They need to scrap the unlimited package, you can't even get to 50GB by the look of things

Lot of people doing way more than 100GB on uncapped. I'm doing 70-100GB so far (only the 3rd month I have it).

I easily do 30 or 40 gigs a month and I don't even try atm, don't have time to do things like streaming etc...

Early Telkom mobile days were bliss, now if you are in a built up urban area chances are your local tower is so over subscribed it's a nightmare.
