Dear subscriber

According to our records your total usage as at [2006-9-21 00:00:01] has reached and exceeded the threshold for the overall service.

Username : online4XXXXXX@dsl512telkomsa.net
Uploaded : 2.14GB
Downloaded : 10.75GB
Combined Total : 12.89GB
Service threshold : 3.00GB

Reaching the threshold has resulted in your username being disabled from our network of services until the 1st of next month.

Your actions have resulted in your username being added to our list of high-end users and repeated behavior of this nature could result in an overall blacklisting of services from TelkomInternet.

Should this not be the case, you are most welcome to mail
adsl-escalation@telkomsa.net with your concerns.

I was already capped early in the month and purchased an additional telkom internet account online. There was a problem with their site and would not load. I never was given a username or password and subsequently called them only to find 2 accounts had been created of which they gave me one username to use and I chose a password. They said they would delete the second account and notify accounts etc in order for me not to be billed twice. This was about the 6th of the month. About a week ago TWO amounts of R249 was debited from my fnb account. I called them again only to find out that the second account had not been deleted. I asked at the time for a reference number but was told all the calls are recorded and that I would not be given a reference number for the cancellation. Now they tell me I have to wait I don't know how long before I get a refund which will be done on my next telkom account. I have to keep a minimum balance of R8000 at FNB in order to have free banking and because of the second debit of R249 my balance went below this and I most probably will have to pay around about R100-150. in bank charges this month.

I am so p**sed off with TELKOM and also I mailed ICASA as well telling them I had been capped, but have NO LOCAL ACCESS and when will the regulations be enforced. Needless to say I have not yet received a reply from them.

MY MAIL TO TELKOM
Dear Telkom,

I have received your warning mail. I was not aware that I had to keep track of my usage. I thought telkom does this and disconnects me when I have exceeded my limit. I am only using what telkom allows me to use and so I am quite upset at being threatened with blacklisting me for something which you have allowed. Also once capped am I not supposed to have access to local sites?
As far as I am concerned Telkom has the power to control usage so to threaten me is ridiculous in my opinion. When is Telkom going to abide by regulations set by ICASA. You should abide by Icasa regulations before threatening users.

Masu i feel the same way, They allow a "softcap" now. Wich they control.

How can they come and threaten people, when they are the one's doing the capping. They must simply cap at 3gig then.

Also they said a while ago, they are leniant on the 2gig/3gig accounts not enforcing a hardcap right away. But look at the results now.

Hi Napalm and bwana, I was aware of the softcap, but just decided to act a bit dumb in my mail to them. Anyway I still think they have a cheek to threaten us with blacklisting when its entirely up to them to enforce the cap. If they blacklist everyone using over their allocated amount, they will have few customers left. If they just blacklist high users, I do not think this would stand up if taken to court as they allow us to do so and have not said to us that we could only use up to XXXX over our limit. Its at their discretion.

Thanks for the link bwana
