Is it not possible to plug in the data settings of the network on which you are roaming?

If you roam you get routed back to SA and break out locally, just like you're home.

If you want to use the foreign network, you must buy a SIM there and use their stttings.

I already pulled the plug on Vodacom on our local business GPRS application due to unreliablility, and now goodbye to Vodacom for our roaming. It's very shortsighted for whatever network to charge like this - they get the money ONCE, and then never ever again, never, for all time, and I will tell thousands of business and personal aquaintances over the next years about how greedy they (Vodacom/AIS whoever) are.

The fact of the matter is that the huge data charge lies with AIS, so if you were an MTN, Cell-C, Virgin or Vodacom subscriber, your bill would have been substantially the same.

You can't blame Toyota in South Africa if you pay R12 per liter to fill your bakkie in Zimbabwe but it's R3 per liter in Cameroon.
