Anyone know what's entering the V&A? This is the second warship today, the first looked like one of our Corvettes.

I think Peter the Great (Pyotr Velikiy, Russian Kirov class battlecruiser) should be in Cape Town. If I remember right it's on it's way back to the Northern Fleet after being in South America, Venezuela I think.

The SA Navy had submitted an application to the NNR in December for the Pyotr Velikiy - Russian for Peter the Great - to visit Cape Town from January 9 to 12.

Was that application not declined? Or have they sorted all the red tape out?

There's been no news apart from a decision by the SAN to continue preparations in the hope that the NNR would sort out the red tape.

I would love to goto this... but I thought they were denied... I saw a big sign saying "nuke ship denied" or something in CPT.

Permission granted this morning. She's just visible off the breakwater.

I only saw 1 'grey' warship in the harbour, it's opposite (to the right) of the Oil rig.

I saw Peter the Great entering the harbour today.

MF, big ship, must be one of the last battle cruisers in service????

HUGE. Probably spend 2 mins taking our out fleet (considering our subs are in dry dock)

I will try get some pics tomorrow.

Any idea of of if we can board this beast??

I was at the Waterfront yesterday and only Russian ship I saw was an expedition ship heading down to Antarctica. Had a chat with some of the Russian crewmembers, very nice people.
