A daring thief casually ran off with a bag stolen from the front seat of a vehicle travelling on a Durban highway on Monday afternoon.

In a video making its rounds on social media, a man - who had been waiting in the bushes for the unsuspecting victim - is seen casually jogging up to a vehicle, smashing the passenger window and running off with a bag.

The incident, which occurred on the King Cetshwayo Highway (formerly Jan Smuts Highway) offramp onto the N2, was over within seconds.

They will never learn. Stories are in the news daily with warnings to put valuables into the boot of the car and not on the passenger seat.

That driver was oblivious to her/his surroundings. How did she/he not notice the criminal scum running next to the car. Should just drove over him at that stage.

There's a squatter camp right there. Scary thing is that it's pretty common place where people tend to have break downs and accidents.

It's just a matter of time before people are attacked when they break down or have an accident

Also along the M19 as you get on from the N2 is bad, squatter camps basically on the shoulder of the road, seen some opportunistic savages try their luck too.

What's up with women putting their handbags on the front passenger seat? It's not their fault they get robbed but geez put the bag out of sight/reach.
Fully agree. I drive daily with women in my car and always make sure their belongings are in the boot. Don't allow passengers to keep bags inside the car.

ya some people are just plain stupid. You can warn them about things like having handbags on the front seat or alarming the car without checking if the door is lock , but they just cant get it through there thick heads.

I understand that people need to be more careful, but how sad has our country become that this is the first thing we say when we see a crime... that the victim should have remembered the **** hole we live in

Yup, definitely sad.
But that's how it is unfortunately.

Also let's say everyone starts becoming super-vigilant. I hate to break it but crime will probably just get worse. Criminals won't stop but will then start employing more direct, violent methods.

It's already happening, now they don't even bother to hold you up while hi-jacking you. They just kill you outright and throw your body out of the car.
