Why only due to retrenchments do we get heated exchanges now? Employees are complicit wrt corruption, wasteful expenditure, missapropriation of funds with their years of tacit approval of the way the entity is run.
So, the cleaner, or cameraman, or news anchor is complicit? Could you explain how please?

By the powers vested in me I hereby solemnly declare the cleaner (OK, and the other bottom feeders too) free of complicity.

As for the rest: you mean to tell me, not one "investigative journalist", camera person, "senior" journalist, etc. never ever had the guts to ... bite the hand that feeds them? Years and years of gross negligence, mismanagement, etc were perpetuated under their "watch". Now that some of them will be retrenched, now they want to confront management? Independant? Impartial?

Sure, there has been "reports" in the past... but never did they confront their management on the rot, robbery and ransacking taking place while they were earning their average R791 000.00 packages. Why not post an impassioned exchange for the sake of saving their precious employer and exposing their displeasure with the way the "ship" is being run all over social media?

They have a moral duty and obligation as so-called journalists.

Their sick leave cycle was 12 month, not the normal 36 months.
Article

On top of the job cuts, it said it will also implement and consider other cost cutting alternatives such as:

  • Freezing salary increases for three years;
  • Reducing employee leave days from 35 calendar days to 28 days;
  • Discontinuing the encashment of leave days; and
  • Reducing sick leave from 30 days annually to reflect the 36 days in a three-year cycle aligned to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

Look into the reasons for the average SABC salary being so high (almost 800k). Simply put, it's money for ANC votes.
