The police should go plain clothes through these gatherings in future with full colour pics of his body and his car after the accident, only thing I can think of is that these guys all think they are bullet proof and never consider the consequences of what could happen at that speed.

Ghost Squad do exactly this but they obviously can't be aware of every event.

I watch European Drifting Events a lot, and there is one guy who lost his arms in an accident and he still drifts, obviously his car is modified, but he is crazy good considering his circumstances. So I would agree, people would go to the extreme to pursue whatever passion they have

Found his facebook profile and there is another video of him boasting about racing against a GT3 prior on the same stretch so he seems to be very proud of his negligence only that now his luck just ran out this time.

If we honestly believe our police have no idea of these gatherings well then we are in serious **** in this country. I know for a fact they are well aware of this but I also do not think they have proper funding to assign dedicated police to monitor these gatherings either. We have huge police funding issues in South Africa thanks to our quality government.
