The image of 312km/h wasn't at the very same moment and somewhere in the past.

It's probably also more like 280km/h in true speed sense.

Bike would much more easily do 300km/h than the car which needs loads of distance to make it happen.

I reckon from pure guesstimation they were doing 240-260km/h.

Yeah that would be my guess as well... maybe a bit lower but in that range...

The n1 highway has been a playground lately for racing.

I have seen quite a few guys do high speed runs on the n1 . Think its from goodwood pass sable road canal walk

This guy just tried to avoid the car infront and by the looks of it lost it .

Oh well

Plenty of youtube videos that shows cars are faster than bikes, from 0 all the way to 400+
But those are not standard cars, vuur warm gemaak natuurlik!

Top Speeds on red hot cars easily.

The bits of acceleration especially in the 0-300 range not so much. And also "in gear" acceleration with a rolling start most of the time stock standard superbikes would seriously hurt even modified "normal" cars that aren't in the super or hyper leagues.

Beyond 300 is a different story but that takes serious work to make happen on a car.

Went past there one night late last year and saw the reckless/negligent driving and boy racing. Have avoided the area since after dark.. A year ago this wasn't the case

My CBR did 120 in first gear no problem. The S1000 little more, I would say 140 or there about

Sorry I meant to say the bike was doing about 240-260km/h and therefore the cars a little bit slower.

Ahh yeah cool... then I 100% agree..

The bike was comfortably going twice as fast as the car in the middle lane if you ask me...

Yeah exactly what I was using as my measure and also just personal experience of speeds a bike can comfortably do.

Cars need a lot more distance to manage higher speeds and then don't accelerate like the bike was clearly doing.

S1000 I recall does 15* in 1st.

The thing is (super) bikes accelerate continuously up to their top end and you can see that bike is still clearly pulling strongly vs the cars which is where I'm guessing the speed from as it would be in that range to still have lungs on it.

260 and upwards they don't pull so hard.

****

Also speedo and real speeds are very different, especially at the upper end they aren't calibrated for.

Yes, I read somewhere there was another person with him in the car. Apparently he walked away from the crash with minor injuries. I'm not so sure if I look at that car.

Yeah I doubt that story really... there doesn't seem an airbag deployment on the passenger side of the car.

Yea, you can hear that bike still having pull in it. I would agree to about 240+ or there about. Doesn't mean the cars weren't pulling 300 or there about. Just depends on how far back they are coming from. I think the bike is just a random in the picture and the cars racing have been reeling him in as they still approached before the accident.

my friends Kawasaki ZX10R does 160km/h in 1st gear  Why bother even having any gears at all ?:laugh::ROFL:
EDIT: Speedo reading so who knows what actual reading is? upto 10% less i think

If the cars were doing 300+ they would be closing on the bike, and they weren't... the bike was disappearing like a stuck pig compared to the cars.

Could wheel spin as the car was launched make the speedo indicate a higher speed? (During the accident)

I think he means they could have reached those speeds earlier and out of view.

We know the 312 km/h is bullshit off a speedo so likely their real GPS reached speeds anyway would be 280-290 at best.

I mean if these okes were so serious about "top speed runs" they would surely have GPS loggers and not be posting kak pictures on the internet to "prove" their speed.

Good idea. I imagine it's a bit uncomfortable having a BMW or like end up on you lap.
