clarkson believes being stupid is a requirement for a racer.

He is married with small kids and his wife is pregnant. He comes from a very wealthy family in Mitchell's Plain and the dad buys his sons new cars all the time. Apparently he said straight after the accident that it's fine, he can get a new car.

FYI Youtube Getaway in Stockholm, in particular the one with the Toyota Supra. He races through Stockholm city and when a cop car latches onto him he makes a break for the highway and hits 320km/h. It's worth noting that all the other cars on the highway looked like they were standing still.

This is where you can expect k@k because dad and mom in their station wagon won't even see you coming even if they looked in their rear view mirror they still won't be able to process just how fast you are approaching.

Yeah they are pretty much like parked cars on a freeway when looking at it from a physics perspective.

Doing just 240km/hr when everyone else is doing 120km/hr is like driving 120km/hr whilst everyone else is parked on the freeway. You can get away with it most of the time weaving in-between the cars but eventually you're going to hit a "parked" car.

A thought experiment: I'm sure if people were driving 120km/hr and saw others parked in the middle of the freeway they would be pissed and angry because of how dangerous it is to park cars on the freeway. Yet these racers driving +200km/hr generally don't think the speed is as dangerous in the same way, yet it is exactly the same danger.

As an ex bike rider - I find speed is best appreciated alone on an unoccupied and isolated stretch.
