Maybe they should stop taking swipes at the ANC? Dunno, I just find that they always position their election campaigns in relation to the ANC.

You need to still energise your base, so you have to throw the old dogs, a bone or two to get excited about. Their ad campaigns have been a well balanced mixed, speaking to the base, the disillusioned, the youth...theyknow their market. As a whole, the DA is playing in a different league than any of the other parties, ruling one included. Once the DA gets into national government, others will be so behind...going to be hard to build up a party machinery to match theirs.

It's an election, of course parties are going to swipe at each other , especially ruling parties.

, while it was also aired on SABC 1 – something of an achievement considering the recent antics by the national broadcaster.

I gave it 2 days before it's pulled.

Yeah, but every election? It seems their whole campaign, every election is based on 'Stopping the ANC," "Jobs Not Jets" or "Keep Zuma Out." They even do this when they cold call you and then when folks complain they resort to stupid and arrogant hashtags like #Whileyoucomplainaboutansms. I've just had enough of their fear mongering. Different strokes for different folks though.

Yes, but while they are occupied by this the ANC is putting out their election manifesto. It also just seems odd that they'd market themselves this way (us vs. them)

The ANC's election manifesto is pretty much fear white capital, the DA is going to bring apartheid back, vote for us because only we will provide social welfare and so on.

In other words, nothing progressive.

That is actually a very good ad actually even if any party made it.

lol the ANC part ripped me. Expensive cars, having a braai and all well dressed asking for her vote while she took the taxi through a very poor and rural area with very limited basic services....

So, the DA spends all that cash on this ad and then prominently features the opposition? Free publicity for the win. Why did they need to include the ANC in the first place? Are they not confident in what they stand for to tell us more about themselves? This is akin to getting your fifteen minutes of fame and then spending a large proportion of it telling everyone how the other guy is schitt!

The DA could learn a lot from the EFF.

Was the ANC featured in a positive light? They don't sound too happy about the ad :)

On the EFF -

http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/malema-rouses-capacity-crowd-at-eff-manifesto-launch-20160430

Quoted from the manifesto launch speech Julius gave -

"I am whispering to you, Zuma, wherever you are, those soldiers are going to turn their guns against you," Malema told supporters during a near two-hour speech in which he spoke without pause or a sip of water until his voice started to break.

"Leave office before the soldiers turn against you. The army is EFF."

The EFF was "not afraid" of Zuma, he said.

"Zuma will not be president by 2019... The army is going to take... [up] arms against them [the government]. This army will turn."

Malema said that, while the Economic Freedom Fighters was "the most peaceful organisation," it would "defend" itself.

"We are not provoking violence... We fight in Parliament. We fight in court...

"We will never start any violence. We will never... [point] guns at innocent people. But anyone who comes with violence and thinks that they can intimidate with violence – we will defend ourselves…

"We are not scared of war. Neither are we scared of violence."

He said that it was only because "the ANC is led by clowns" that comments he made to Al Jazeera in a recent interview had been called treasonous.

Malema was also scathing in his reference to State Security Minister David Mahlobo. "You are a small boy… you are an intelligence minister who is not intelligent."

"We said we are going to Parliament to stop the Nkandla corruption, I'm happy to say, we have stopped that. They were undermining the Public Protector's office, I’m happy to say, we have changed that."

He also suggested that the EFF's presence in Parliament had prevented MPs from snoozing.

"They used to sleep in Parliament, but we have woken them up," said Malema.

"Even [President Jacob] Zuma used to sleep in Parliament, but today the old man is always awake because there is no bed of roses for Zuma in Parliament."

Malema said that since gaining its 25 seats, the party was changing Parliament to be more representative of the country's people.

"They [EFF MPs] sound like they are 250, yet they are 25."

Quite a lot of talking about the ANC, yes?
