I would advocate EDC'ing a tank, if that was possible. When I'm defending my life I want as much firepower as I can get, not the least. Handguns are, for all intents and purposes, ****. They pack a terrible punch, they don't penetrate like you want, they're terrible to aim and to shoot accurately, it's a short, fat, heavy, inaccurate bullet and they have absolutely no stopping power (barring a few select calibers). They're tiny though, which is the only thing that makes them attractive. I would ideally want to carry a .223 Rem rifle with a 16" barrel, dual optics and match grade ammo each and every day, but it's not practical, unfortunately. Not in SA where people are scared shitless if they just hear the word "gun".

"The more you practice, the luckier you get". Remember this.
No man. AR 10 for edc. With some Co-witness optics. Some premium expanding ammo.

I'd much rather shoot varminter grade ammo at that velocity. Even expanding ammo still goes a good way after passing through something as small as a human. I'd rather want that bullet to break up completely.

Also, I wouldn't want to EDC 7.62mm ammo. It's too heavy. .223Rem/5.56mm is a lot lighter for the same amount, less recoil, same velocity, lighter gun, etc.

The possibility of EDC'ing a rifle is just about the same as a tank...

What about a Milkor 40mm? That should ruin someone's day.

Fair enough. I suppose a P90 would be a reasonable substitute given the short ranges that we're normally seeing in SA. Plus, the large magazine helps you with sustain. Granted, those rounds are designed to penetrate body armor so you'll likely experience similar things to what the soldiers experience in the middle east - the rounds go through the target too quickly to do proper damage, unless it hits a bone and, ummmm, changes course unexpectedly within the victim.

Alternatively, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_Beowulf, .50 chambered AR platform.

5.7x28 isn't fast enough. I want 2,200 FPS impact velocity for that wound channel.
