The biggest issue I have is that we all complain and bitch and moan about corruption, crooked politicians, corrupt cops etc, etc on social media ,different forums or whatever other means.

Would this not help the situation we are in If we ALL stood together as a UNITED South Africa and launched the million man marches or however you want to protest (NO VIOLENCE) around the country and state we've had enough of the shyte.

We are such a divided nation right now.

It pains me and I'm sure hundreds of thousands if not millions of people in our land.

Thanks, got that off my chest.

I'll probably get lambasted left, right and centre for what I just said.

NB If I knew how to start the above I would have done it a long time ago.

You'll never get it right. Corruption and gangsterism is condoned in SA. Just look how many on this site are defending the thugs and their dodgy businesses without websites.

Copy and paste the posts where I committed the logical fallacy of appeal to reason? Once again. the commentator becomes the subject instead of the actual subject. That is called an ad hominem if you don't refer to the actual example.

Sorry, not appeal to reason but appeal to ridicule you replied to a few others they are committing it. In the same vein, you are committing fallacy of irrelevant conclusion. I noticed in the Suez thread, you also started asking people if they are registered mariners because you are, and somehow that makes you posts "correct" if they aren't, ie: fallacy of irrelevant conclusion.

Correct. The persons were committing the logical fallacy of an appeal to ridicule in their arguments. I just pointed it out.

I believe that I have more credibility regarding maritime subjects as a registered mariner for over a decade than a landlubber who has never served on a vessel has. Would you agree?

Now, are we going to discuss me or are we going to discuss the subject?

I hear where you are coming from and fully agree with your sentiments, but aren't there many more good people than bad in our land.

Credibility, yeah carries some weight but...

I am sure that both you and I in our respected professionals with years of experience have gotten things wrong or for years misunderstood certain things. So if there is a difference of opinion between me and somebody else about something very specific, I have tried to learn to step back and confirm my assertion and even find out about the other assertion, and not fall into "Its my profession, I have so many years of experience argument, therefore I am right" argument because if you are indeed wrong, you make yourself look like a bigger knob afterwards, believe me!

Now, are we going to discuss me or are we going to discuss the subject?

Lets discuss you and the subject. Do you at least concede that your were wrong misinformed when you said that police can't open a case without a victim complainant, and this can be done in cases more than just murder? All the fluff around if they do, how successful a conviction is, or who is being corrupted is something else entirely.

There is no chance I could have been wrong in my profession. When I'm wrong, people die or get hurt or there is massive equipment damage. At best I would have been blacklisted like the captain of the Ever Given will be. At worst I would have been prosecuted. People that can't cause damage or injury in their professions battle to understand this concept.

That I will concede. I made the mistake of my experience of working with (Not for) the SAPS being the way it is instead of the way it happens.

Totally agree with you but unfortunately, we have people blindsided by political parties and race run accusations by certain members of MYBB (I won’t mention their names) that have the narrative to burn and destroy SA in order to get to their financial or political goals.

There are so many people in SA from all cultures and color that have potential to make SA a better place but unfortunately these are destroyed by politicians and unions that want to enrich themselves.

There are many, many good people in SA, and in Africa but also plenty in SA who gleefully take up the divisive racist lead given by the ANC regime; our supposed "leaders" and their racist bedfellows, the EFF. This provides a smokescreen, diversion or red herring to the blatant looting and incompetence by these same "leaders" that has resulted in SA's (and most of Africa's) continually deteriorating position, particularly economically. These "leaders" of course live high on the hog, blatantly, caring only about themselves, families and fellow cadres. The only small surprise is how many support this behaviour, picking up crumbs from the baas's table.

Hence the homily; "Africa, good people, bad leaders" and why some old US boxer, famous in his day, is reputed to have said, "Thank goodness my grand daddy got on the boat". Such is the Africa SA is part of and fits in with.

There is some contradictions in there, for instance the cops asking for their phones before the alleged phone theft happened.

It will be interesting to see what happen from here on out, especially related to whose phone they took, and the events that lead up to the assault in the police station.

The problem with that phrase is Africa still has a chief-is-everything mentality & centrally controlled communal culture, so they simply do what their leaders tell them without thought.

All the good people in the world counts for nothing if their leaders are bad & they listen to them.

The Police should be able to collaborate his version of what happened at the Police station.
