Watch this cool science fiction film written by an AI

We need a new word for code just doing stuff.
Everything is AI.

So basically it created like 5 seconds of it? Sensationalist headline, I thought we were heading for John Henry.

It's a neural network that learned from data, that falls under AI theory, so technically it is AI. What we need is to have a proper definition for human-like AI, like in True AI, or some other crappy acronym.

You could make a better movie than this by having an app randomly select a bunch of sentences from a text file.

I agree on that though. The actors were literally telling each other I don't know what you are saying. That alone shows you...

So is my gut. Doesn't mean it can actually think.

This is like a loom spec for a warp knitting machine to make a spun filament ginned polyester

Saw and watched this on Ars. "I need you to explain to me what you're saying" sums it up. Mindless. The creative bits come from real people.

For now, yes. It has difficulty understanding the meaning of sentence structure and grammar, which is key to automating creative functions. There will soon be some convergence of tech from the AI world that is going to begin solving these issues.

I imagine I know where you're coming from (a more philosophical angle) and it is perhaps a fundamental difference of opinion on the perceived limitations of artificial intelligence. I've been fortunate enough to be exposed to it on quite a detailed level and I've not seen anything to indicate that a limit even exists...
