Best water cleaning tech for people worried about South Africa's next major crisis

South African households who want to ensure their water is safe for consumption have a plethora of filtering systems to choose from — with prices starting from under R2,000.

According to research by several independent organisations and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), the quality of South Africa's municipal water has declined in the past decade.

And how has the cANCer / GNU's Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) & the various metro & local municipalities responded to this 'water quality crisis' so far - and just what sort of 'remedial (in)action' has been implemented to date?

I noticed a comment on the article mentioned the wastage by these small RO purifiers. I actually measured the amount of water wasted - over 60%. OK, you don't purify all the water you use, but in a house with 4 people it adds up!

We're in the fortunate position that we can use the "waste" to supply two toilets' cisterns. I won't use it to shower with though!
