If this article is true why isn't the "average user" on adsl. Would be cheaper and faster.

"According to user information gathered by the company, the average consumer uses approximately 1.2GB per month, while excessive consumers are using up to 90GB per month."

This is rather different from the "There is no problem if you don't exceed 2 GB a day" story

One has to wonder if the "baddie" list is geared at those complaining or those abusing the network ;-)

Rodent probably has his place at the no one spot on the list ;-) hehehe ...

The average is only 1.2GB due to the fact that you cant get higher download speeds....

That is a bit of a dumb statement if you ask me!!!

avg 1.5GB HA! sure that was my daily d/l when the service worked, now I'll be lucky to get that in 2 months! We all bought polka with all that all and all and all plus some extra ass-rape at the unbelievable price of R850pm.

These people need to get fscked and stop fscking us, but I suppose marcel's hand runs away and the doc's vibrator sh1ts out it's batteries when she touches it. And if you're reading this, I haven't even stooped down to your level yet!

Quote: “It is only a few people complaining, but they have been very vociferous. We have placed these people on a ‘baddie' list, and we monitor them separately. We have phoned many of our customers and most were happy with our service.”

Well fortunately I'm not a user of the Sentech service. I might have been on their 'baddie list', and I'd hate to think what this entails... Smacks of some possible corporate underhanded tactics should one speak their mind toward them in a critical light!

Am I to interpret this differently? It seems to me (and to others surely) that if you're critical, you're being monitored. Step out of line in any way, and they'll do their best to penalise you.

As to the earlier claim of some users downloading 90 GB of data in a month, from what I've read on websites criticising the service, this is nigh impossible. Many claim they are only getting bandwidth of 4k ps (same as a dial-up). At that rate (purely speculatory on my part), you could only download 10 GB per month, based on 30 days, downloading 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Maybe all the criticisms I'm reading are unfair, unfounded and purely manufactured or misdirected. But why at Sentech? After all, we've always got Telkom!

Not everyone is within 5km's of an exchange - the primary benefit of wireless connectivity.

But then only in a country with such an inane infrastructure as ours, have some got wireless because it's CHEAPER (based on a smaller bandwidth allocation package). And I'm not so sure - if you add in your wireless modem at over R2,000.00, is it really? I've not done the math [:D]

Congrats on your first post Doc.

Welcome onboard.

Nevermind me, I use ADSL anyway. But that could change. It's up to your company now to prove itself.

Hi there Michelle - well done for posting!

Shouldn't potential customers be told that this service is not for "power downloaders"? The selling point of the MyWireless service was that it was unlimited, ergo not restricted. The only restrictions that were in place was that of audio/video streaming, hosting high-traffic websites, FTP servers etc.

People that are willing to pay R850 a month for a connection, expect to be able to use it to download more than 100Megs a day - I know I do!

To expect people to pay that kind of money for a connection, and only download 100Megs a day is ridiculous at best! Someone that downloads that amount of data would be MORE than happy with a normal 56k dial-up, not a "broadband" connection.

Broadband is there to download huge amounts of data. If I wanted to download 100Megs a day, I would have stuck with my 64k ISDN. I don't download files the whole time, and with JUST my traffic for browsing, chatting and playing games, I would hit 100Megs in two hours!

I'm sorry, but your standard for "normal" users is WAY under par.

lol, 100MB a day .. that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. All the salespeople I spoke to before buying Sentech, the main reason they gave me for choosing Sentech over ADSL is that Sentech is not capped whereas ADSL customers are limited to 3GB a month . 100MB a day * 30 day month = 3GB ... great "service" you guys got going here.
