Interested to hear from people who have bought from them (or went and didn't). I like the idea but am worried that these cars are lemons in generally

Anybody gone to the showrooms to see what's what?

My colleague sold her nice Land lover Discovery (3 - I think) to them, cause she wanted something lighter and smaller. They even let her drive it for a day or 2 after she was paid for it, while she got her new vehicle.

I wanted to sell my Ikon, they offered me R23 000 (obviously without seeing it and it's good condition). Sold it privately for R30 000.

Sold as is, hence don't assume anything and take someone with you who can accurately assess a vehicles condition if you cannot.

Does anyone know if they allow Dekra testing or similar at the buyers cost before purchasing?

Sold my car through them. Got a really good price for it as well. More than most dealerships offered, but less than private - wasn't willing to go the private route though, not with a Golf :)

My car was in really good condition, so I'm assuming the price would've reflected that - i.e. look at the various same cars, and look at the pricing as an indicator.

Interesting it would be nice if people who have bought their cars from them can give us their experiences to be honest.

I think they only sell ,as is, if you are a dealer otherwise they have to follow CPA rules when sell to the public

One of my friends bought a 2011 Kia Picanto from them about two years ago, it was priced lower than most dealerships asked for models with similar mileage etc., the car was and still is in a good condition. He mentioned that the buying process was easy, and the service received from them was great.

In correct.

They dont have to follow CPA because they are a vehicle wholesaler.

That's the loophole they use to avoid Cpa, they sell as a "wholesaler" and apparently dealers legitimately do buy from them, but as a special allowance they also permit peasant's to buy vehicles from them but wholesale = no warranty.

It's like buying a car from an auction, no comebacks, what you see is what you get.

An individual who wishes to purchase a vehicle for his own use is not a wholesaler. No matter what We sell cars insists. The buyer is covered by the CPA.
As illustrated in the attachment there are many conditions that the auctioneer has to comply with in terms of the CPA when selling to a private individual.

I dont know about that but I know for a fact wsc sells the majority of its vehicles voetstoots, how it does that I'd love to know bit that's the way it is.

I've never been to a vehicle auction where the vehicles were not all sold voetstoots, unless there was still some of the manufacturers warranty left.

Your link states: "If you are the buyer of goods you may be prepared to sacrifice the implied warranty of quality in favour of the chance of getting the goods at a bargain price at an auction."

I was there over the weekend. The auction vehicles and cash vehicles are all sold voetstoos.

As per their website:

" WE SELL CARS IS AN APPROVED DEALER WITH WESBANK, STANDARD BANK, ABSA AND MFC
If you finance - the price is still the same wholesale price you see displayed on the vehicle, except there are additional costs as with any vehicle finance deal.
• Finance is only available on qualifying units.
• Qualifying vehicles would be vehicles younger than seven years, with mileage of less than 120 000 km - as a guideline.
• The vehicle has to have at least a 6 month manufacturer warranty or an additional warranty needs to be purchased for the vehicle.
ADDITIONAL COSTS RELATED TO FINANCED TRANSACTIONS:
• License and Registration cost - R1 850.
• Service and delivery cost - R2 950.
• We offer 2-year Warranties - Ranging between R7 000 and R11 000."

So if the vehicle falls within the finance age and mileage threshold the CPA would apply, I assume.

If buying cash there's no extra costs, price you see is the price you pay?
