E-tolling has been on Gauteng's roads for five years on Monday - and Sanral is no closer to finding a way forward for the controversial system, which has been rejected by the majority of road users in the province.

People don't like being taxed and shafted at every angle... we pay taxes, we pay levies, we pay we pay we pay... we've paid for the roads and maintenance ten fold... why must we pay again? Exactly e-toll roads make for 1% of the total tolled system but the expected revenue from this was more than 34% and now they can't build more roads for the rest of the country...because "stubborn" Gauteng motorists are not keen to indefinitely fund all roads and cronyism in between.

The lesson Sanral still needs to learn is that in a democracy the citizens' opinion count, we don't have to obey some Schutzstaffel Nazi Ali..

I remember this stat, but cant recall where I read it. SANRAL claims it costs R100K to retar 1m of a highway. Uhmm, yeah, right.
